Of all the places Ernest Hemingway had lived, worked and played, none had the attraction nor hold on him than his home outside of Havana, Cuba. Since 2005, restoration of his beloved Finca Vigia (Overlook Farm) began to manifest itself with the unlikely alliance of Cubans and Americans. Mary Werner DeNadai, FAIA, an American Historic Preservation Architect has been on the professional team that was formed to advise on the restoration, preservation and conservation of the buildings, grounds, fishing boat and contents of Hemingway’s home of 22 years. This was the place where he crafted some of his greatest works including A Moveable Feast and Old Man and the Sea. She regularly returns to Cuba as a DeNadai as faculty for the National Trust for Historic Preservation tour program. She is a Trustee Emerita of the National Trust, a member of the National Historic Landmarks Committee for the National Park Service, and is a National Peer Architect for the National Endowment for the Arts and General Services Administration.
