The Ximenez-Fatio House Museum will again be included in Stetson University’s Road Scholar program as a group destination with Dianne Jacoby, tour director and educator at Stetson’s Department of Continuing Education. Going into the fourth year of tours at the House, Jacoby will portray Miss Louisa Fatio. Jacoby selected the site which served as an elegant Inn, or Boarding House and flourished during Florida’s Territorial and Early Statehood periods (1821-1861). The historic grounds date back to St. Augustine’s original town plan of 1572. This year’s Road Scholar tours will run on Tuesdays beginning November 8 through April 2017.

Specifically, Jacoby will greet Road Scholar participants just as the original visitors would have arrived at the House from more than eight miles away on the St. Johns River by steamboat and traveled by horse drawn carriage to the bay front establishment. The Road Scholar groups include up to 40 participants from around the world who experience narrated tours depicting the lifestyles of early visitors to St. Augustine. Tours will be held in more than a dozen rooms, the visitor and learning center, and the museum gift shop.

Alongside local and renowned experts, tour participants experience in-depth and behind-the-scenes learning opportunities, from cultural tours and study cruises to walking, biking, and more. Jacoby is renowned for her many character portrayals and as a re-enactor of the early settlers in St. Augustine along with her local theater work.
