Skill Level: Beginning to Intermediate
Peter Rubino, author of The Portrait in Clay and Sculpting the Figure in Clay, will lead you on a technical and artistic journey toward understanding the dynamic and creative forces in sculpting the human figure in clay. Peter will introduce you to his easy to follow step-by-step system of blocking in the essential foundation of the figure in pose and how to establish the proper proportion, position and planes associated with the human form. Students will learn a fresh and intuitive sculptural language while creating a 24 to 36 inch reclining female figure with water based clay. Lessons will also include comprehensive studies of hands and feet, unique tooling techniques and the value of surface texture. Peter will discuss the firing process and a simple method for hand painted patinas. Participants are encouraged to discover their own individual artistic style, Rubino says: " in this unique workshop, we don't make mistakes we make adjustments". $40 model fee to be paid 1^st day of workshop.
