Rachel Barton Pine, acclaimed violinist

Presented by EMMA Concert Association at Flagler College - Lewis Auditorium

At age 3, Rachel Barton Pine knew she wanted a violin to play Bach, the music she heard in church. She practiced up to 8 hours a day and, at age 10, performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. At 17, she was the first American and youngest ever to capture the gold medal at the Johann Sebastian Bach International Competition. She has played with orchestras around the world. She developed an interest in rock music, playing an electric violin, and has performed on classical and rock radio stations to promote interest in classical music to younger audiences.
