The Art Studio of St. Augustine Beach is proud to feature Jill Hawk as our showcased artist for the month of May. Born in Chillicothe, Ohio, she was raised in the small town of Londonderry, Ohio. She split her time engaging in art and sports, attending Lees Junior College and the University of Tennessee-Martin as a basketball scholarship recipient. Her art training consists of courses taken while in high school and in college, having been nominated and accepted into the National Art Honor Society while in high school. Since that time, her training has been self-taught and focused on acrylic painting and urban sketching. Jill’s professional life was dedicated to the National Park Service where she served as a law enforcement park ranger, park superintendent, and regional chief ranger over the span of 26 years. She currently lives in St. Augustine, Florida where she spends her time living an artful life “Celebrating the Color of St. Augustine one Skyline at a Time”. People are drawn to the energy and vibrant colors in her paintings - reflecting a joyful perspective of St. Augustine in a form of “Naive Realism” and surf art. Jill is an active member of the Florida and Orlando Urban Sketchers group documenting landscapes, urban locales, and special events around the state. She is an active member of The Art Studio in which she won 2nd place during our People’s Choice Awards at the Beach Blast Off! December 2016 and also belongs to the St. Augustine Sunrise Rotary. A reception at The Art Studio of St. Augustine Beach is planned during the First Friday Art Walk, May 5th, from 5:00pm-8:30pm. Please plan to visit The Art Studio to meet Jill and view her work!
The Art Studio is available to rent for classes or as meeting space. Membership is offered at just $20.00/year although it is not necessary to become a member to participate in any of the variety of classes offered. Our regular studio hours are Monday-Friday from 12:00 pm-4:00 pm. Please see our calendar at www.beachartstudio.com for a list of classes, events, and special hours.
