Celebrate your Irish Roots… even if you’re not Irish!
EVERYBODY’s Irish on St. Patrick’s Day!
The St. Patrick Day Parade is an annual celebration of St. Augustine’s Celtic heritage and the Emerald Isle’s most revered saint. With over 1,000 participants and thousands of spectators, lads and lasses converge upon the Ancient City each year, donning their tartans and green attire. Did you know that the wearin’ o’ the green was outlawed in the 18th Century England? Seen as a form of rebellion, the wearing of shamrocks was a crime punishable by hanging.
The St. Augustine St. Patrick Day Parade follows a route throughout downtown and ends at Francis Field just as the Celtic Music & Heritage Festival begins.
