Walking About in Historic Lincolnville

Be prepared for an hour-long walk of history with Ms. Cora Tyson’s grandson to recall the Civil Rights Movement and African American heritage of this historic neighborhood.

Ms. Tyson was not only a graduate of the Excelsior High School where the Lincolnville Museum calls its home, she was a friend and host of Dr. Martin Luther King and many others who needed a home away from home to strategize and seek comfort during this dark period of St. Augustine’s history. Mr. McClain is a Trustee of St. Paul’s AME Church and has been actively serving the St. Augustine and Hastings Black community.

Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a refillable water container. Restrooms and parking are available at the Museum. This is a fundraising event hosted by the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation with support from sponsors.

Ticket prices are donations and all proceeds will benefit the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center, a non-profit organization with a mission to preserve, promote, and perpetuate over 450 years of the African American story through the arts, educational programs, lectures, live performances, and exhibits.
