Valarie received her Bachelors in Art Educacation and her Master of Arts at the University of Florida. She was an graphic artist at the Florida Museum of Natural History and also worked at the Harn Museum of Art in an educational capacity.

She is currently an avid plein air painter participating in many events in around Florida and has had her work exhibited in the Lightner Museum's Find Your Park exhibit, the St. Augustine Art Association's Plein Air Paint Out, the Palm Beach Plein Fun Fest, Santa Fe Springs Paint Out, the Open Air Arts, and the Flagler Beach Paint Out, and the Smithsonian Waterways exhibit.

Locally, she is represented by the Hubley Gallery and during the Summers she is on display at the Ridgeway Art Market in Ontario, Canada.
