This one-day session explores techniques and materials for creating works of art that engage the blind through touch. Participants will experiment with two-dimensional reliefs, wall hangings, assemblages and other forms of art, focusing on texture, shape and the expression of one strong idea.
Diane Bradley, professional art educator and specialist in tactile art techniques, will lead the workshop, which is being offered to prepare artists for the 17th Annual Tactile Art Show, October 5 - 28, 2018 at the St. Augustine Art Association. The Tactile Art Show is part of the global Art Beyond Sight initiative to make art more accessible. Students from Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind tour the local exhibit and create the Braille signage for the installation.
Both beginner and seasoned artists who work in all mediums will benefit from the workshop. A $10 supply fee applies. To register, call the Art Association at (904) 824-2310.
