St. Augustine Colonial Night Watch

St. Augustine Colonial Night Watch

Presented by Historic Florida Militia at Governor's House Cultural Center & Musuem

The Colonial Night Watch will see re-enactors from St. Augustine's colonial past in the years 1739-1785.  Units you might see are the St. Augustine Spanish Garrison, Native Americans, the 42nd Highlanders, the 60th Regiment of Foote, the East Florida Frontier Rangers, and others.  Florida was hotly contested among the colonial powers in this period and we aim to bring that to life at the Castillo de San Marcos.  The day will culminate in a torchlight parade starting at the Castillo at 7PM.  The public is invited to follow along starting at the City Gates.  The procession will march to Government house for a welcome speech to be followed by singing of Christmas Carols to ring in the holiday season. This event occurs during the Nights of Lights when 2 million tiny white lights illuminate the city, and this event is the highlight of the season.
