Datil Pepper Fall Festival

Datil Pepper Fall Festival

Presented by UF/IFAS Extension St. Johns County at Unknown

UF/IFAS Extension St. Johns County is pleased to announce the 11th Annual Datil Pepper Fall Festival will be held on the grounds of the beautiful St. Johns County Agricultural Center in St. Augustine.

The Datil Pepper Fall Festival will be a weekend full of “hot” events alongside local vendors selling plants, gifts, and datil pepper products. The highlight of the weekend will be Saturday’s Datil Pepper Restaurant Cook-off, a culinary competition featuring datil-inspired cuisine prepared by participating local restaurants, along with an amateur datil pepper hot sauce contest that is open to the public. New this year is an amateur datil jam and jelly competition and a professional hot sauce contest for participating vendors with judging by the festival attendees.

St. Johns County Master Gardeners will have their biannual plant, rain-barrel and compost tumbler sale. Master Gardeners will also be available to answer lawn and garden questions at their plant clinic and to lead tours of the St. Johns County Extension Botanical Gardens.

For children, St. Johns County 4-H will offer hands-on opportunities to learn about native trees, frog life cycles, animal tracks, and flower origami.

Educational opportunities will also be available to learn more about local agriculture, datil pepper production, Florida-Friendly Landscaping™, food safety, and more.
