One of Israel's Premier Orchestras

The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra was founded as the Palestine Broadcasting Service Orchestra in the late 1930s. In 1948 it became the national radio orchestra and was known as the "Kol Israel Orchestra". In the 1970's, it was expanded into the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. The Orchestra maintains a varied repertoire, ranging from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods, and extending to contemporary composers. Conductor and cellist Dmitry Yablonsky was born in Moscow. As a cellist he has played all over the world; as conductor, he has collaborated with many famous orhestras.
