"The Secret - The Spanish Inquisition in Old St. Augustine" is the story of Jose Miguel Martinez, a Spanish Investigative Attorney and Finder in the employ of the Spanish Monarchy and The Roman Catholic Church. His area of expertise: Finding Jews, Moslems and “bad” Catholics. Found, they are arrested and taken away. Jose journeys from Spain to the New World with Pedro Menendez in 1565. Helping to settle St. Augustine and living comfortably for twenty years, his world is torn apart when he discovers a Jew - a Marrano - living in close proximity to him and his family. This discovery must be handled! He vows to erase this alien, this liar, this pig from his life. He vows to uphold the purity of early St. Augustine.
"The Secret" was chosen to appear in the International Fringe Festival in NYC last year (2014). It is a “tour de force” (St. Augustine Record’s Bob Feldheim) by St. Augustine’s own playwright/actor, Lee Weaver . It is a Special One Person Show (Special OPS) that brings the excitement of ocean crossing, The Spanish Inquisition, pirates, alligators, faith, prejudice, intolerance, love, hate and survival of an early American family. "The Secret" - soon to be a movie.
