An Enemy of the People

In this timely drama,  the main character of An Enemy of the People, Dr. Stockmann, speaks some unpleasant truths to the people of his town, and as a result, they declare him "an enemy of the people. The town in which the play is set has built a huge bathing complex that is crucial to the town's economy. Dr. Stockmann discovers the baths' drainage system is seriously contaminated and he alerts several members of the community, and receives generous support and thanks for making his discovery in time to save the town. Soon, he learns the necessary repairs would be too expensive and he is urged to retract his statements to protect the livelihood of the town.

Directed by Mike Beaman, most recently seen at The Limelight Theatre as the Emcee in Cabaret, this show is not to be missed! Mike is the Theater Instructor at Saint Augustine High School with St John’s Center for the Arts and was named Teacher of the Year 2017 - 2019. He has directed a number of productions at SAHS as well as Summer Musical Theater Camp (Curtis Camp). He also recently directed Fool for Love and Hedda Gabler here at The Limelight Theatre.

This production is brought to you by Scott McLucas on behalf of the Stetson Kennedy Foundation. The Stetson Kennedy Foundation, incorporated in 2003, carries on the passion, mission and vision of late author, activist, environmentalist and folklorist Stetson Kennedy, who infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan as a young man, wrote 8 relevant books, campaigned for the State Senate with the help of his buddy, Folksinger Woody Guthrie, and fought for voters' rights. He brought about global change as a champion of justice and equal rights, a preserver of folk culture and a steward of Brother Man/Mother Earth. An Enemy of the People is onstage from January 11th through February 3rd in Limelight Theatre’s Matuza Mainstage located at 11 Old Mission Avenue in uptown St. Augustine.

TICKETS AND SHOWTIMES

Regular tickets are $26 for adults; $24 for ages 62 and older; $20 for military and students; and $10 student rush for students with I.D., available 30 minutes prior to curtain for available seats.

Showtimes are 7:30pm from Thursday - Saturday and at 2:00pm on Sundays. Advance reservations are encouraged. Tickets are available at limelight-theatre.org or by calling 904.825.1164.
