The Witness

The Witness

Presented by Lee Weaver Special OPS at DOS Coffee and Wine

In The Witness St. Augustine’s own playwright/actor, Lee Weaver, with his wife, Nanette, brings the stunning portrayal of a self-confessed former racist to the stage.  Beauregard, relates how the love of his life, Maggie, quit their relationship when she became fully aware of the extent of his racist thuggery. Historians say the 1955 events of Montgomery, Alabama and the Bus boycott, sent the Civil Rights Legislation to Congress. Many say the events in St. Augustine moved the legislation from Congress to LBJ’s desk for signing. The Witness is a love story (fiction) about racism in America (non-fiction).  Encore performance Apr. 9 at DOS.
