St. Augustine has always had more than its share of characters, crooks, and scalawags. This evening is guaranteed to be informative as well as fun!”
The Tale Tellers of St. Augustine, a non-profit organization of cultural and educational orientation, was founded in 1993 to promote the art and perpetuate the tradition of storytelling. Dedicated to community enrichment, the guild promotes the art of storytelling by sponsoring its membership in performance. Guests and new members are invited to meetings, 7 PM, second Mondays, except July. Information: 904-540-0402.
Ms. Kaler has researched and presented many stories of our local history. She currently portrays Mary Harkness Flagler for St. Augustine Road Scholar programs. She also tells traditional and literary stories, and stories from her own experiences living here in St. Augustine. Last October she directed a Classic Theater's production of 1984. In January she was featured at the Florida Storytelling Association Festival in Mount Dora, Florida.
Wayne & Jane Sims are humorists, historians and tandem tellers. The duo has spent 25 years sharing tales and legends at the renowned Florida Folk Festival in White Springs and 15 years stepping aboard St. Johns Riverkeeper Eco-Heritage boat cruises of the St. Johns River as naturalist William Bartram and author Constance Fenimore Woolson, America’s First Travel Writers. Locally the Sims recently presented "St. Augustine's Scoundrels" for the St. Augustine Lighthouse Museum membership, and in March will tell "Irish Tales" at the Port Orange Regional Library in Volusia County.
