Susan Strong is Featured Artist at P.A.St.A. Art Gallery for the month of February.
Susan Strong loves gardening and walking through wild areas to find the plants that no one notices. She is working on a project with the Minnesota School of Botanical Art to create a painting of Stiff Goldenrod for the Minneapolis city Florilegium. Many unnoticed plants are important for pollinators such as bees and butterflies.
In the winter she looks for plants in Florida. Come and see her rendition of a little wild aster she found near her home in Fleming Island, or this Sea Grape from Jensen Beach, Florida. Presently she is completing a painting of Live Oak with Spanish Moss.
Susan taught Art and Art History at North Hennepin Community College in Minneapolis before moving to Florida. She studied botanical painting in Sarasota, Florida, with Olivia Braida Chiusano at the School of Botanical Art. She has two botanical paintings in the Anderson Library collection of the University of Minnesota Arboretum in Chaska, Minnesota.
