St. Augustine Easter Parade features Halfway to Hazard

The St. Augustine Easter Week Festival announced today that national recording artists in Halfway to Hazard have been named as the Grand Marshalls for the annual St. Augustine Easter parade on Saturday, April 20 beginning at 9 a.m. The celebrated parade route starts at the Old Jail Museum, 167 San Marco Avenue and runs through the historic district in downtown St. Augustine, Fla. with thousands of local spectators from St. Augustine and St. Johns County, along with destination visitors.

Halfway to Hazard musicians Chad Warrix and David Tolliver are renowned as songwriters for their hit song, Daisy, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAZniWie5jo after a Nashville club career and attention from superstar Tim McGraw who helped launch the duo’s big name concert tour dates with country music stars McGraw and Faith Hill, Jason Aldean and others. Reaching the top of Billboard Magazine’s Hot Country Songs, the two artists have implemented their position for philanthropic efforts while raising more than $1 million for music programs in their home state of Kentucky and more than $500,000 for hurricane relief efforts in Florida and Texas.

As this year’s key Grand Marshals, the St. Augustine Songwriters’ Festival brings in Halfway to Hazard by festival creators Dylan Rumrell, a St. Augustine -based real estate professional and Arlis Albritton, a Nashville -based songwriter/musician in an effort to feature today’s hit songwriters, music legends and emerging stars. The Songwriters Festival brings songwriters to St. Augustine to perform music that is known world-wide.

According to David Chatterton, St. Augustine Easter Week Festival Parade Director, the parade is produced for residents, their families and friends along with domestic and international visitors who set up chairs and stand along the parade route.

The opportunity to visit and share the excitement of the locally focused parade is a 60-year tradition in St. Augustine, Nation’s Oldest City. The special day honors spectators, participants and the hard-working team of volunteers who are credited for planning the renowned area accomplishment. Family-friendly and fun aspects of the parade include prizes awarded to parade participants including local non-profits, youth, volunteer and service organizations, citizens and civic groups, and many others. Categories for prizes are open, historic and Easter divisions.

The St. Augustine Easter Parade began with the organization of the non-profit St. Augustine Easter Week Festival. The parade is known as the Parada de los Caballos y Coches, Parade of Horses and Carriages, and features St. Augustine’s Royal Family, the Easter Bunny, clowns, drill teams, community floats and marching bands. The St. Augustine Easter Week Festival culminates with the Parade, a tradition headed by Sandy Tilton, President of the St. Augustine Easter Week Festival.
