“Hitchhiking” is Derek Coghlan’s new one-man show at the Pioneer Barn. Coghlan spent his formative years growing up in a small town in the middle of nowhere in the middle of Ireland, before coming to America in 1990.

“Hitchhiking,” is a show written and performed by Coghlan that examines the great, ordinary lunacy of growing up in Ireland in the 1970’s and ‘80’s. Coghlan explores the dysfunctional mania of a traditional Irish Catholic family, the pure magic and freedom of travelling by thumb, the glorious majesty of pubs, and all the passionate eccentricities of that blasted, sun-starved North Atlantic rock.

Coghlan began performing one-man shows in 2004 after being inspired by the Irish storytelling that he grew up with. Visitors can come see this performing artist demonstrate his comedic talents with his one-man show, “Hitchhiking”.
