An Artist Talk, First Friday April 5th, at 6pm is an opportunity to hear Mark explain his inspiration behind his visual storytelling.
A graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute, Mr. Moran has spent the majority of his career as a graphic designer and illustrator. Having received numerous awards in these areas his work has also been published in Arbus Magazine, American Art Collector, Step by Step Graphics, and Print Design. In addition Moran spent sometime as a Professor of Art at Baylor University in Texas.
His later years has been focused on fine art where he works in 2 distinct media -drawing (graphite, prisma color and pastel) and computer assisted (Photoshop). In describing his style Moran says “it’s definitely on the realism narrative side but it’s story telling with a bit of twist. I like to leave clues, some obtuse some not so much to leave the viewer second guessing.”
Among his influences are Rene Magritte, MC Escher, Saul Steinberg of The New Yorker fame, and digital artist Maggie Taylor.
