Easter/Lenten Special

Easter/Lenten Special "Judas - The Betrayer" & "Peter - The Big Fisherman"

Presented by Lee Weaver Special OPS at Unknown

Act 1 - "JUDAS - The Betrayer" - From the shadows a figure emerges. He appears restless, even frightened. He’s startled to see that you are looking at him. He explains that he did not sleep last night, and as he dresses, he tells you that he is preparing to go and find the priests--to see what he can do now.His name is Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve. He explains to you what happened last night inGethsemane, how he kissed Jesus in order to “identify” him. Wistfully, he recounts the miracles, the things he saw with his own eyes; he explains his frustration and his decision to betray. With anguish he details the Last Supper and the events leading to the crucifixion. And he makes you think. You might reconsider your feelings about him. You might even identify with him. But before he runs off--this complicated man, this tortured soul--you will be moved.

Act II- " PETER - The Big Fisherman" - Walking by the Sea of Galilee, you smell the fresh sea air. Beside you, the hulking frame of Peter, the Big Fisherman, shelters you from a stiff wind blowing ashore. Peter is on his journey to spread the Good News. In the plainspoken and sometimes humorous language of an Old Salt, he tells you about his calling to discipleship. He recalls, with wonder, the miraculous healings of Jesus, his own confession of faith, the transfiguration, his denial, the crucifixion, the Empty Tomb, and Pentecost. He shows you his hands — the strong and calloused hands of a fisherman — and explains that they are the very same hands into which his Master has entrusted the Keys to the Kingdom. Before he says goodbye and disappears up the shore, you will understand the words Christ spoke to him: “You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church!”
