The Ascending Landscape: How to Reach Your Next Level in Plein Air and Studio Painting
Don Demers, www.donalddemers.com, VMA

Skill Level: Intermediate / Advanced
This workshop is designed to help artists develop their sense of artistic identity and elevate the level of their work by honing their skills of observation and studying the constructs of visual communication as it relates to the creation of paintings. The curriculum will be based on the components and elements that are required in creating a work of art, such as, concept, design/composition, value structure, drawing, color and brush technique.  We will be working on location and in the studio with the purpose of exploring the development of plein air paintings into studio paintings. There will be a minimum of one fully narrated demo a day, mini demos and instructional exercises, and ample one on one instruction. There will not be group critiques, but the work of the class will be discussed in informal settings. The demos will be in oil with possible additional demos in watercolor. All media are welcome, including acrylics and pastels.

Class size will be small for individual attention. Don requires potential students to send an image of work or website address to be approved for this workshop.  Email Don Demers at, demersart@comcast.net.
