Ponte Vedra Writers Meeting

Ponte Vedra Writers Meeting

Presented by Florida Writers Association, Ponte Vedra Beach Chapter at Unknown

One of the most challenging and misunderstood skills to grasp is that of writing from the viewpoint of fictional and even nonfictional characters. Award-winning author Ken Pelham presents a crash course on mastering viewpoint entitled “Out of Sight, Out of Mind: Writing in the Fictional Point of View,” at the FWA Ponte Vedra Writers meeting on Saturday, July 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

Ken will show writers how to cast aside their personal point of view and express what a fictional character thinks, sees, hears, and experiences. Teaching through examples, Ken will help writers:

Ken Pelham’s debut novel, Brigands Key, won the 2009 Royal Palm Literary Award and was published in hardcover in 2012. The prequel, Place of Fear, also a first-place winner of the Royal Palm, was released in 2013. Ken co-founded the Alvarium Experiment, a groundbreaking writers’ consortium specializing in speculative fiction anthologies. He is a member of International Thriller Writers, Florida Writers Association, and lives with his wife, Laura, in Maitland, Florida.

The Ponte Vedra Writers group is part of the Florida Writers Association, a statewide, non-profit organization with nearly 1,500 members dedicated to the support of both aspiring and published writers in any genre. The July 27 meeting is free and open to FWA members and non-members alike. For information on FWA, please visit www.floridawriters.net.
