About the Ancient City Poets:
Named by Glenda Bailey-Mershon for a 2009 National Poetry Month Celebration, the Ancient City Poets gather on the last Sunday of the month to hold free poetry readings in St. Augustine, Florida. “Anyone from the community who puts their name on the sign-up sheet and reads a poem becomes an Ancient City Poet,” says Chris Bodor, a founding member. Going strong since August 2009, their poetry open mic is the longest-running series of its kind in the area. They currently gather at the Corazon Cinema and Café, located at 36 Granada Street. The sign-up sheet is available at 2:30 and the microphone is turned on at 3:00 pm.
