Historic Coast Culture’s Farm-to-Fork Chef Series “A Gilded Age Excursion”

Historic Coast Culture’s Farm-to-Fork Chef Series “A Gilded Age Excursion”

Presented by St. Johns Cultural Council at St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum

In the late 1880s, tourists from Henry Flagler’s grand resort hotels took excursions to visit Anastasia Island by horse-drawn cart or by rowboat. While there, they often had tea on what remained of the original lighthouse at low tide.

Come experience an intimate, collaborative multi-course farm-to-fork dinner beneath century-old live oaks prepared by top local Chef Michael Lugo and friends to showcase the Gilded Age and the region’s fresh produce, including wine pairings and local spirits.

The extraordinary four-course meal begins with signature, themed craft cocktails and fire-roasted oysters grilled to perfection over an Urban Asado Wood Fired Grill. Then, you’ll savor an amazing salad of local GYO Mache Greens and more. Then, marvel at the entrees of Lobster Thermidor and Duck à l'Orange. To culminate the dinner, delight in an amazing dessert by top Chef Nils Rowland of Crème de la Cocoa. Of course, each course is complemented with a special wine pairing – all adding up to a one-of-a-kind culinary event.

The costar of the event is The St Augustine Lighthouse, celebrating the 145th anniversary of the lighting of the St. Augustine Lighthouse Lamp, October 15th, 1874. For your “Gilded Age Excursion”, you’ll enjoy a fascinating private tour of the 1876 Keeper’s House and Lighthouse Museum, learning about the role the Lighthouse has played over the centuries. You’ll hear the story of how duck became part of the Lighthouse Keeper’s menus and enjoy it as part of your delicious farm-to-fork meal.

During the dinner, Chef Michael and friends will talk about their culinary creations and the importance of local produce in today’s culinary scene.

In addition, the event will also feature local artisans and music.

Come savor Historic Coast Culture’s unique flavors at this unique Farm-to-Fork event.
