Ponte Vedra Writers FWA Meeting

Ponte Vedra Writers FWA Meeting

Presented by Florida Writers Association, Ponte Vedra Beach Chapter at Ponte Vedra Library

Attorney talks copyright law for authors

Copyright law can be confusing, especially to new authors, leaving them with many questions. Attorney Deborah Reid will provide the answers to those questions in her workshop presentation, “Copywrite or Wrong,” at the FWA Ponte Vedra Writers meeting on Saturday, August 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the Ponte Vedra Library.

Reid is both an accomplished artist and AV rated attorney with over 36 years of experience. In her practice, she drafts contracts, provides legal services and advises clients on copyright, trademark, licensing and trade secret matters.

Her workshop will guide participants through the fundamentals of copyright law in a fun and accessible manner, showing writers how to register their own work with the U.S. Copyright Office. Reid will also cover the legal impact of collaboration, the use of “Work for Hire” and license agreements, as well as the parameters of the Fair Use Doctrine.

The Ponte Vedra Writers group is part of the Florida Writers Association, a statewide, non-profit organization with nearly 1,500 members dedicated to the support of both aspiring and published writers in any genre. All meetings are free and open to members and non-members alike. For more information on FWA please visit www.floridawriters.net.
