SEA's 5th Annual Rails to Trails Festival

SEA's 5th Annual Rails to Trails Festival

Presented by SEA Community Help Resource Center, Inc. at Armstrong Park

SEA (Spuds, Elkton, and Armstrong Community Help Resource Center, Inc.) is a not-for-profit, 501c(3) Charitable Organization, which has hosted its annual Festival, since 2012.  SEA's above three major communities were established in 1912 from descendants of the Gullah Geechee Corridor along the eastern coast of the US, and includes Vermont Heights; these small townships provided and still provide laborers for the local farmers as well as the former turpentine industry. The annual SEA Festival is the organization's major fund raising event, featuring historical booths containing Gullah Geechee artifacts and displays, DVDs and other films, Gullah home cooking, a bike tour along the Rails to Trails bike and walking trail, led by Bike Florida, and historical signs pointing out the rich culture of the area.

SEA officers, and voluteers utilize the funds raised at the Festival for support of the communities' children and family programs, in an earnest effort to help the residents living in these rural communities cross over the "sea"  of homelessness, and poverty by providing access to a food bank, medical assistance, school bookbags and supplies, summer and after school children's programs, computer lab, SNAP application assistance, books, clothing, blankets, travel bags for migrant farm laborers, and monthly hot meals, and Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
