"The Secret" - The Spanish Inquisition in Old Florida

Playwright Lee Weaver, a Board Member of The St. Augustine Jewish Historical Society (SAJHS), offers up high seas drama, religious intolerance, and survival with his one-person show, "The Secret: The Spanish Inquisition in Old Florida."

"The Secret" is the story of an investigative attorney (Finder) employed by the Spanish Monarchy and the Holy Church to identify Jews, Moslems, and "bad Catholics" for prosecution. Coming to Florida with Pedro Menendez in 1565, Jose Miguel Martinez is horrified upon arrival when he discovers Jews in St. Augustine and resolves to do something about it. Follow Menendez's story of high drama on the seas, survival, religious intolerance, family, alligators, pirates, and more.
