Florida Chamber Music Project's first concert of the season is in partnership with St. Johns County's Sing Out Loud Festival. In honor of the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birthday, they will perform two of his string quartets as part of the “Sing Out Loud Virtual Sessions." They will perform String Quartet in D Major, Opus 18, no. 3, written when Beethoven was first establishing himself as a composer of string quartets, followed by String Quartet, Opus 59, No. 2, a quartet written toward the middle of his career, when he was increasingly isolated from society. String Quartet, Opus 59, No. 2 is said to have been inspired by contemplation of the starry firmament and the music of the spheres. Beethoven was acutely aware of the impact of isolation on human beings because of his own deafness.
