Sheryl Sherwood will be revealing hand-coiled pottery in her "I Can" series based on Philippians 4:13. Each piece is lovingly designed to bring joy and inspiration to the eye and touch.

Sheryl is a life-long artist. Since childhood, she has worked in a variety of mediums, searching for the one to call her "passion." In 2011, she was introduced to working with clay in the hand-coiling method and was immediately inspired by it.

Retired from two careers, Sheryl's work experiences are deeply embedded in her organic clay pieces. The first, an environmental agency that raised her awareness and appreciation for the world that has been put in our care. The second, as an elementary teacher of blind and visually impaired students at the Florida School for the Deaf and  Blind. Here, she taught her students to use tactile forms to enhance their day-to-day learning.

It seems destined that Sheryl finally found clay as her medium of choice. Each uniquely designed piece is hand-coiled and combines her love of Scripture, work, and life experience. She uses natural and recyclable materials to make texture and carvings, making her art more interesting and accessible to the blind. To tie in her passion for Scripture, a Braille/print Scripture card is included with each of her tactile art pieces.

Sheryl is a member of the St. Augustine Art Association, the Clay Network, and the Thriving Artist Mentoring Program.
