Come see history come to life.
On Saturday, June 5, members of Saint Augustine Garrison and the Historic Florida Militia will be bringing their award-winning history program to the Colonial Quarter Museum.
Enjoy two of St. Augustine’s premier historical experiences, the Colonial Quarter and living history. Historical interpreters will be portraying Ancient City residents from the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. Many have heard St. Augustine is the Nation’s Oldest City, but don’t know how the city achieved that title. This is the perfect opportunity to learn history in a fun and exciting way.
Living history interpreters, dressed in authentic attire, will be presenting a true and fascinating history lesson, starting in 1565 with the founding of Saint Augustine to the pre-American Revolution period of the 1740s. This special event will include military demonstrations of crossbow, matchlock and flintlock musket firings, sword fighting techniques and so much more.
Guests are encouraged to ask questions and take photos.
The Historic Florida Militia and Saint Augustine Garrison timeline interpreters will be at the museum at noon.
Regular museum fees apply.
