July 10, 2021, marks the 200th Anniversary of Florida becoming a United States Territory. To commemorate this occasion, The Historic Florida Militia, along with its partners, The City of Saint Augustine, the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park, the University of Florida Historic Saint Augustine Inc, the Florida National Guard, and the Saint Johns County Board of Commissioners will present a weekend-long special event.

Starting on Friday, July 9 and continuing on Saturday, July 10, the Fountain of Youth Park will host a historical encampment the likes of which the Ancient City has never seen before. Military and civilian life in the early 19th century will be on display.  Cannon and musket firing, camp life, cooking demonstrations will be just a small part of the activities.

This special area of the park, with its own entrance off of Myrtle Avenue, will be free and open to the public from 9 AM until 5 PM with a brief closure during the downtown ceremony. (Regular admission fees apply to enter the main area of the park.)

On July 10 at 11 AM, The Historic Florida Militia will present the Act of Transfer and Change of Flags Ceremony.
