Sing Out Loud: Mayday Parade with guests Inspection 12 and Flag on Fire

Presented by St. Augustine Amphitheatre at St. Augustine Amphitheatre

The sixth studio album from Tallahassee-based rock band Mayday ParadeSunnyland gets its title from an abandoned hospital where the band members used to sneak in to explore as teenagers. “The hospital shut down sometime in the mid-’80s but then it just stayed there for decades,” says lead vocalist Derek Sanders. “It was a super-creepy place—it was overgrown with vines, and still had some of the hospital beds and IV stands—but we have all these good memories of hanging out there when we were younger.”

The follow-up to their acclaimed 2015 album Black Lines, Sunnyland finds Mayday Parade both reflecting on the past and pushing toward the future. The band recorded the album with longtime producers Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount, and also teamed up with Grammy-nominated producer John Feldmann (blink-182, Panic! At the Disco) and Howard Benson (Of Mice & Men, My Chemical Romance) for the very first time. The result is an album built on impassioned vocals, sing-along choruses, and deeply heartfelt lyrics.

Having gotten their start selling their CDs in the parking lot of Vans Warped Tour, Mayday Parade has now headlined the tour five times and will play the main stage again this summer for the tour’s final run. For the band, each live show offers the chance to personally connect with the dedicated following they consider more like a family than a fanbase. And with the release of Sunnyland, Mayday Parade’s mission is to continue strengthening that connection through their uncompromising honesty and boundless emotion.

Inspection 12 has been punk rockin' the suburbs of North Florida with their infectious melodies and nostalgic harmonies since the reminiscent days of 1995. With 8 full-lengths, 1 EP, and 5 day jobs they are looking to expand their catalog to follow up their 2015 release Redefine which was hailed by onlookers as 'the most recent album.'

Flag on Fire is a 5 piece melodic punk band from Jacksonville, Florida. The Band was formed in 2016 and is fueled by various musicians hailing from a notable group of bands from the Jacksonville area such as Yellowcard and Whole Wheat Bread. Slack to the Future their first release was on Bird Attack Records that same year. Followed by a full-length album in 2018 titled Practically the Best You’ve Ever Been released by Felony Records. They have shared the stage with such bands as Pennywise, Strung Out, Anti-Flag, and 88 Fingers Louie.

Currently, the band is working on their third installment to their library. There was an unofficial release in January 2020 of the single Adventures in Risk-Management, a song approaching the subject of the current political climate at the time. The song sucks the listener in with a build-up of a heavy-driven Kick Drum, Floor Tom, and gritty Bass Guitar. Layered by some distorted guitar-driven feedback.
