The artists of Amiro Art & Found have created a modern day Cabinet of Curiosities and have filled the gallery with art, oddities, and other objects of interest for purchase. The classic “Cabinets of Curiosities”, also known as wonder-rooms, were assembled in the mid sixteenth century by European aristocrats, the merchant class, and early scientists. The rooms served as spaces for solace and contemplation as well as demonstrations of magnificence and power. “Amiro is the Timucuan word for plenty,” explains gallery co-owner Jan Master. “Since the other owners and I have collections of what can only be described as unique, unusual, and extraordinary objects, we thought it would be fun to display in them in the fashion of a Cabinet of Curiosity.” Cabinet of Curiosities will be on display through August.
