Fort Mose Historic State Park welcomes Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue on February 26 for the inaugural Fort Mose Jazz & Blues Series.
In February 2022, Fort Mose Historic State Park will be the host of the inaugural Fort Mose Jazz & Blues Series to honor the history and celebrate the cultural significance of Fort Mose. The Fort Mose Jazz & Blues Series will comprise six unforgettable performances over three weeks from some of the biggest names in their respective genres.
Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue’s music respects Crescent City traditions while pushing the boundaries of those traditions, adding pop, rock, and hip-hop influences. "Allen Toussaint told me, ‘Learn everything you can, take everything you can from us, but don’t be us,’" Shorty says. "The responsibility put on me is to move the music forward.” Trombone Shorty’s new album opens with a dirge, but if you think the beloved bandleader, singer, songwriter, and horn-blower-born Troy Andrews came here to mourn, you got it all wrong.
Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will perform at Fort Mose Historic State Park on February 26, 2022, at 7 PM for the inaugural Jazz & Blues Fest. Tickets start at $65 and are available to purchase here.
The Fort Mose Jazz & Blues Series is produced by the St. Johns County Cultural Events Division, which operates The St. Augustine Amphitheatre and Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, with support from St. Johns County Tourist Development Council, St. Augustine Distillery, St. Johns Cultural Council, Fort Mose Historical Society, and Flying Saucer Presents.
