EMMA Concert Association presents the ‘Russian Nightingale’, Svetlana Strezeva, on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College, 14 Granada Street in St. Augustine. Tickets are $30.00 ($5 for students) and may be purchased in advance at www.emmaconcerts.com, by phone at 904-797-2800, or at the door. The box office opens one hour before the performance.

Svetlana Strezeva, a prominent Russian-American soprano, is a Laureate of the Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow as well as the Glinka Vocal International Competition in Minsk. She completed her professional studies at La Scala in Milan, Italy, under the guidance of Opera Diva Giulietta Simionato. As Prima Donna of the Moldova National Opera Company, Svetlana performed in numerous prestigious theaters, including the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow and the Kirov Theater in St. Petersburg. She has recorded with the Bolshoi Opera Orchestra, Moscow Pops Symphony, and the orchestra of Russian Folk instruments.
Praised as "The Great Russian Nightingale" by the St. Petersburg press, Svetlana currently resides in the United States and performs with her pianist-daughter Milana Strezeva. Together they've given recitals throughout the US, as well as in Italy, Denmark, Germany, Ukraine, Romania, Moldova, and China. Also a devoted teacher, Svetlana has given master classes in colleges and universities around the world, and maintains private voice studios in New York, NY, Tampa, and Chi?in?u, Moldova. Also performing with Svetlana and her daughter on this concert is clarinetist A. Gorokholinsky.
