Fall was harvest time for the families living at Fort Mose, who farmed and fished for their food. Presented by Florida Living History, Inc., Fort Mose Historic State Park, and the Fort Mose Historical Society, this heritage Event will also feature Local Farm Fare, on-hand to offer a farmers’ market of vegetables, herbs, and fruits from colonial Florida that are still grown locally today. Re-enactors will demonstrate how this local produce was cooked in 18th-century Florida. At 11AM and 1PM, Annie Francis, independent scholar, will present research from the Archives of the Indies on foods commonly consumed in colonial Spanish Florida, along with original recipes.
Admission to this heritage Event is free of charge to the public. There is a Museum admission fee of $2.00 per adult; children, age 5 and younger, are free.
