St. Johns County Main Library presents a free Zine Workshop for tweens at The Waterworks.
Registration Required. Zine: (pronounced ZEEN) is short for "fanzine" and is usually a small-batch, independently published work that circulates less than 1,000 copies.
Some people make them to express their feelings, some make them to show off art, and others make them to show off their recipes, research, and findings. Anyone can make a zine. Most people make them for the love of creating and to add diverse voices into the mix, rather than for seeking profit.
During this workshop, participants will receive a blank, pre-folded, 5.5"x4.25" 8-paged booklet. Art supplies will be provided to create any kind of zine you’d like. Volunteers will be available to guide the process and answer questions. Feel free to document your work to post and inspire people to make their own. At the end of the workshop, those who finish their booklets will have an option to make 5 copies. The authors can donate one of their zines to the library, give it to friends and family, or drop it off at their neighborhood little library.
Ms. Kelsey is so excited to lead this workshop!
