Poets and poetry lovers come celebrate all sides of love, live at the Waterworks, with the local poetry community.
The St. Johns Cultural Council and St. Augustine PoetFest present “An Open Mic Celebration of Love” with City of St. Augustine's inaugural Poet Laureate Norma Sherry.
Poets and poetry lovers will gather on Sunday, February 26th from 3-4:30 PM at the Waterworks (184 San Marco Avenue, across from the Main Branch of the St. Johns County Library). Poets of all skill levels are given an opportunity to share their poems with a loving and supportive audience.
Readers are invited to present poems that relate to love. Love is a battlefield. The look of love. The book of love. All you need is love. The theme is meant as a writing prompt and it is your choice if you want to follow the theme or not. Give us two or three of your polished poems or share fresh ink from your notebook. Invite a friend or two or three to cheer you on.
A sign-up sheet will be available at 2:30 and the open mic will start at 3:00 PM. Readers will be called to the podium in the order their names appear on the list. The mic will be turned off at 4:30 to allow the last 30 minutes for a meet and greet and networking.
Let your poetic words flow through the Waterworks and through the streets of St. Augustine.
