Romance Authors Panel Discussion

Romance Authors Panel Discussion

Presented by St. Johns County Public Library - Main Library and Friends of the Main Library St. Augustine at The Waterworks

Friends of the Main Library presents a panel of four romance authors to discuss their writing and the subgenre of romance books. The four authors include Sandra Madden, Skye Taylor, Nancy Haddock, and Judith Luke. The discussion will include the types of romance they each write, how location plays a role, how characters are constructed, and some of their own favorite authors. Author Nancy Quatrano will moderate this event.

This program is free and open to the public and will take place at The Waterworks, 184 San Marco Ave., which shares a parking lot with the Main Library. Seating begins at 12:00 pm, and the presentation starts promptly at 1:00 pm. No reservations are required. For more information, please call the Main Library at 904-827-6940.

Sandra Madden is a former writer/producer for a Miami PBS television station where she specialized in women’s issues and public affairs programming. She sold her first historical novel to Kensington Publishing twenty-five years ago. Since then, Sandra has had over seventeen historical and contemporary romance novels published. Her latest, Murder at the Blue Oyster Grill, will be released by The Wild Rose Press later this year.

A former Peace Corps volunteer (2002-2004), Skye Taylor is a mom, grammy, and great grammy. A lover of travel and adventure, she’s jumped out of perfectly good airplanes just because it’s fun, traveled through the US, Europe, Southeast Asia, and the South Pacific, and currently lives on the beach in St. Augustine where she enjoys writing stories that take flight. Skye is an award-winning author of 10 novels, several short stories, and essays about her experiences in the Peace Corps.

Nancy Haddock is the award-winning and national bestselling author of the Silver Six Crafting Mysteries, Basket Case, Paint the Town Dead, and A Crime of Poison. Previous titles are La Vida Vampire, Last Vampire Standing, and Always the Vampire, a trilogy set in St. Augustine. Nancy draws on historic wealth, southern culture, and the plain old quirkiness of places and people for her books. She lives in St. Augustine near the beach.

Judith Luke lives in northeastern Florida with her husband and canine administrator, Toby. In between golf and MahJongg, she writes. She called Colorado home for most of her adult life. When she bought two horses for her children to ride, she didn’t realize it would grow into a herd of registered Paint horses, lessons for herself, training for her horses, and lots of travel to shows. Driving to Wyoming to visit family and enjoy the wide-open land was the creative inspiration for the fictional ranching community called Bantry, Wyoming, and the mountain formations inspired her Hightower Mountain Series.

Nancy Quatrano is an award-winning novelist and short story author, developmental editor, speaker, and columnist. She’s presented workshops to readers, writers, businesses, and women’s groups, from New York to Florida. In addition to writing a mystery series and co-authoring a women’s fiction series with D.K. Ludas, she writes a semi-monthly column for the St. Augustine Record and runs On-Target Words. Among several awards, her mystery Still Shot won the Action category in the international 2019 Book Excellence Awards. For more information, visit www.NLQuatrano.com
