WORDS and MUSIC: Songs of Broadway | ROMANZA FESTIVALE

Cliff Parrish has conceived a show which will bring to life songs from composers who also wrote their own lyrics, including Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Jerry Hermann, Stephen Sondheim, and more.  The show will star North Florida singers including:  David Abraham, Nancy Grote, Tim Keatly, Haley Kirk, Trudy Lutton, Megan Morton, Susan Powell, Noah Peacock, and Jason Whitfield.  The accompanists are Thomas Rodgers and Cliff Parrish.

Clifford Parrish directed acclaimed productions of Fiddler on the Roof, Urinetown, Nine, 1776 (Direction and Music Direction NJ ACT Perry Awards), Illyria, A Man of No Importance (NJ premiere), Sweeney Todd (NJ ACT MD award,) and Working, 9 to 5, Little Women and Jerry’s Girls, and Nine, along with Steel Magnolias.  Some favorites as Musical Director are Grey Gardens, The Baker’s Wife (Perry nomination), Follies, A Little Night Music, Jerry’s Girls, Mystery of Edwin Drood, Assassins, My Favorite Year, Company, A Light in the Piazza, The Secret Garden and She Loves Me, (NJ ACT nomination,) and Peter Pan for NJ theaters.

Cliff has taught music from 5th grade through college, in addition to conducting choruses in churches and communities, including founding and leading Pro Nobis Chamber Singers, a semiprofessional group for 25 years.

Cliff grew up in North Florida and came to St. Augustine in 2019. He is currently the Guest Music Director/Organist at Riverside Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville.  He holds a MM degree in conducting from Westminster Choir College and a BM from Jacksonville University.

This concert is a highlight of Romanza Festivale’s opening weekend and features North Florida musicians!
