Wednesday Lunch and Learn's Lecture Series with Local Authors

Presented by Council on Aging of St. Johns County at THE PLAYERS Community Senior Center

Each week will feature acclaimed authors speaking about their published work. Sept. 3, 12:30-2:00 – Kenneth Overman “A Lion in Spring” – Like many characters in this book and his previous books, “Where Wild Olives Grow,” “Dawn Passage,” and “Picking Olives and Breaking Bread,” Ken is a globetrotter who has spent most of his adult life abroad. Sept. 10, 12:30-2:00 – Judith K. White, “The Seventh Etching,” a Golden Age family drama of two Amsterdam families connected by a beguiling gypsy orphan and a missing etching; and its sequel “The New Worlds of Isabela Calderon,” The journey to the New World of St. Augustine where Isabela rediscovers passion and purpose. Sept. 17, 12:30-2:00 – Sheila Weinstein, “Moving to the Center of the Bed: The Artful Creation of a Life Alone” and columnist, Ponte Vedra Recorder “Grow Old With Me.” If you have suffered the loss of a partner, either through illness, death, or divorce, and you are wondering how to overcome the despair and depression that has taken over your life, Sheila’s journey will guide you and give you the strength to find a new life of passion, fulfillment, and purpose, even if it is - alone. Sept. 24, 12:30-2:00 – Dr. Karen Moriarty, “Defending a King,” a comprehensive, in-depth portrayal of Michael Jackson that includes his last mysterious years. “Defending a King – His Life & Legacy” reveals new information and unique insights into this “king of a man.”
