Two Great Artists!: Kathe Kokolias and Marilyn Terry are Featured Artists for the month of November at The Art Studio.

We are delighted to have Art Studio members Kathe Kokolias and Marilyn Terry as simultaneous featured artist’s for the month of November. Due to Hurricane Matthew, Kathe Kokolias was not given the opportunity to show her work as the October First Friday Art Walk was cancelled. Marilyn Terry was scheduled for November and only felt it was fair to “share the walls” with her fellow Art Studio member. This will provide visitors with a fantastic opportunity to meet both artists and see their unique styles.

Kathe strives for a feeling of balance, harmony, and spontaneity in her work−the same
elements that guide her life. She has been a photographer for over 30 years and a published
author for the past 10, documenting her travels throughout Mexico, the United States, South America, the Caribbean, and Europe. Kathe began to paint about 10 years ago after a brief exposure to watercolor. She was introduced to experimental water media by Karen Rosasco, a gifted artist and teacher who conducts workshops around the country. She has found her passion with this technique, and the final result is always a surprise! From 2001 to 2015, while living upstate New York she was involved in the Broadway Art Center in Albany, the Niche Gallery in Saratoga Springs, and The Arts Center in Troy, NY. She moved to St. Augustine in the summer of 2015 and was delighted to find an active artists’ community. She is a member of both the Art Association of St. Augustine and The Art Studio at St. Augustine Beach with its dramatic view of the Atlantic Ocean. You may visit her website at: www.kathekokolias.com.

Marilyn is an award-winning artist which enjoys bringing her photographs of unusual and historic locations to life on canvas. Her scenes are of the sea, marshes, Florida’s state parks, and wildlife as well as many photographed scenes of the Caribbean taken during trips with husband, Lindsay. Her work has been purchased by Flagler Hospital to decorate rooms and over 400 copies of her painting of the St. Augustine Lighthouse have been sold in the lighthouse gift shop. Marilyn taught art for 18 years, both at school (1st-12th grade) as well as adult classes. She has developed art programs in two major private academies in Charlotte, NC and in Garland, TX, and has seen her students compete on local, district, state, and national levels-winning outstanding awards on each level. She has an Associates Degree from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC and a Bachelor’s from Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, TN. Marilyn accepts commissions and her work can be seen at: www.lindsayandmarilynterry.com.
