Jacksonville musician Denton Elkins will be on stage in Limelight Theatre’s studio space (the black box), in uptown St. Augustine. This intimate space has 75 seats and a small stage.
Denton Elkins plays “Southern-influenced music,” a mixture of soul, blues and country. “I play frequently between Nashville and Jacksonville. I was born and raised in a hard working Northeast Florida family,” he said.

Elkins’ solid foundation of southern ideals – life, love and family – are not only the center of this singer-songwriter’s life, but also evident in every song he pens.

Denton began his career in the music industry by playing drums at age 4. When older, he spent time traveling the world as a regular drummer in a house band on various cruise ships.

Wishing to trade in his sea legs, he accepted a position at The Walt Disney World Resort’s Animal Kingdom as a member of the performance group The Village Beatniks.

While in Orlando, Denton also toured as a drummer for the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra in 2008.

After his stint with the Miller Band and the Beatniks, he returned home to take care of his mother, who was diagnosed with breast cancer. He used his down time to hone is guitar, writing and composing skills.

One year later, his mother was cancer free and Elkins then composed music for several commercials and various short videos for Jacksonville production company Dripsblack. During this time, Elkins also wrote and self produced his first solo EP, 7 Day Year.

In 2012, he moved to Nashville to perform and continue his songwriting.
