First Coast Opera introduces new Artistic Director, Curtis Tucker.  In this concert, we meet many characters from opera and musical theater as they introduce themselves through song. Often, the “introduction aria” is the first thing they sing in the show and establishes that they are a central and important character in the story.  Getting to Know You, which borrows its title from the familiar song from The King and I, will include selections from Carmen, The Elixir of Love, The Magic Flute, Carousel, Man of La Mancha, and Showboat, as well as works of Gilbert and Sullivan, and more contemporary musicals and operas.  Featured singers will include both new and returning artists to First Coast Opera, including Canadian soprano Emma Jean Cardiff, Jacksonville’s mezzo soprano. Regina Torres, tenor Erick Crow from Coral Springs, FL, and Pittsburgh baritone, John Dooley, accompanied by St. Augustine’s Curtis Powell on piano.
