Families enjoy an introduction to the craft of net making and casting from Minorcan Mike Usina and his “sidekick” Phil Castillo.
Mike Usina & his "sidekick" Phil Castillo will present this program for families. Mike is Minorcan and has been making cast nets for over 60 years, using the same techniques as his ancestors who settled in North Florida 245 years ago.
Mike will share how he became interested in learning this craft and will demonstrate net making. After, everyone will have an opportunity to cast a net.
Recommended for children ages 8+. There is limited space. Please only register the child(ren) attending @ sjcpls.org.
This program will be held at The Waterworks.
