Night at the Theatre benefits Jr. ROWITA Fund

Presented by St. Johns Cultural Council at Limelight Theatre

Lend support to young emerging artists and our local theatre at the same time by purchasing a ticket to the Friday, May 12, 2017 show of I Ought to be in Pictures at the Limelight Theatre.  The St. Johns Cultural Council has “Bought the House” for the Friday performance and a portion of the $30 ticket will go towards their Jr. Recognizing Outstanding Women In The Arts (ROWITA)Fellowship Fund. The Fellowship is a scholarship for graduating women high school seniors wishing to continue their studies in the arts and help them achieve their goal of developing their artistic skills.

Written by Neil Simon, I Ought to be in Pictures tells the story of a 19-year-old New Yorker who moves to Hollywood to become an actress and find her father, a screenwriter. The play opened on Broadway in 1980 and was later made into a film. The storyline goes in unpredictable directions, following the growing relationship between father and daughter and the hurdles they must surmount to meaningfully connect with each other.

I Ought to be in Pictures was the first show produced by the Limelight Theatre when it opened twenty-five years ago. The founders of the Limelight Theatre and the producers of that first show, Jean Rahner and Anne Kraft, have both received the Dr. Gail Pflaster  ROWITA award.  The ROWITA represents lifetime achievement and is awarded to women who have made significant contributions to the St Johns County arts community.
