Ponte Vedra Writers Meeting

Ponte Vedra Writers Meeting

Presented by Florida Writers Association, Ponte Vedra Beach Chapter at Ponte Vedra Library

Author John Hope knows a thing or two about editing. The proof is in the number of awards he’s won, and the fact he’s in great demand as a speaker at writer’s conferences throughout Florida. Mr. Hope will share his secrets of how to turn a good story into a great one through deep editing at the March 25 meeting of the FWA Ponte Vedra Writers, 10:30 a.m. at the Ponte Vedra Library.

In his presentation, “Deep Editing Short Stories: Good to Great,” Mr. Hope will take writers deeper into the editing and development process by dissecting specific elements that allow the writer to view their stories the way readers and publishers view them. Topics include:

- Audience and Theme

- Conflict, Conflict, and more Conflict

- Ups and the Downs

- Heroes and Villains

- A Story’s Success

John Hope is an award-winning short story, children’s book, middle grade, young adult, and nonfiction writer. He won five Royal Palm Literary Awards last year, only a fraction of the total number of awards he’s won. His work appears in paperback, hardback, audiobook, and multiple short story collections. Mr. Hope, a native Floridian, is a board member of the Florida Writers Association. He enjoys running, reading, and writing, and has a weakness for sweet tea.

The Ponte Vedra Writers chapter is one of over 50 writers groups affiliated with the Florida Writers Association, a non-profit membership organization with nearly 1,500 members. Visit www.floridawriters,net for more information about the organization.
