Tickets for Reel Big Fish “The Beer Run” with special guests The Expendables, The Queers and Tunnel Vision go on sale this Friday, April 28 at 10 a.m.

Reel Big Fish were one of the legions of Southern California ska-punk bands to edge into the mainstream following the mid- ‘90s success of No Doubt and Sublime. Like most of their peers, they were distinguished by their hyperkinetic stage shows, juvenile humour, ironic covers of new wave pop songs, and metallic shards of ska. The group cultivated an underground following that broke into the mainstream in summer 1997 when the single “Sell Out” become a modern rock radio and MTV favourite. Reel Big Fish’s popularity gradually waned in the subsequent years, following the decline of ska-punk as a marketable genre. Nevertheless, the band restructured its lineup and has continued issuing new material to a smaller (yet considerably rabid) fan base.

The Expendables enjoyed a laid-back lifestyle growing up in Santa Cruz, CA; surfing, skating, partying and playing music were commonplace. Since 1997, The Expendables have staked their claim in the California surf/rock genre by headlining venues from coast to coast. Blending reggae, punk rock and ‘80s style duelling guitar solos, The Expendables have made heads turn and floors shake for years.

According to The Queers, “We’ve been playing music and touring all over the world for almost 30 years now. We released a few records for Lookout! Records in the early 90s and then had a terrible stint with Hopeless in the late ‘90s. Then we released one more record with Lookout! Records but afterwards switched to our favourite record label we’ve ever had, Asian Man Records. All this while touring a bunch. We’ll see you soon, we’re The Queers.”

Tunnel Vision is quickly becoming Southern California’s favourite new surf, reggae, ska band. The band is comprised of five musicians who grew up in the San Clemente area with instruments in their hands and skateboards and surfboards under their feet. Growing up in SoCal, the band was heavily influenced by the punk rock, reggae and ska music of bands like The Descendents, Black Flag, Misfits, Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, The Expendables, NoFX, Rancid, and Reel Big Fish, etc.
