Theater of the Mind: Storytelling

Theater of the Mind: Storytelling

at Limelight Theatre

Holding Down the Homefront: World War II in NE Florida.  "Shortages, Submarines, Saboteurs & War Bonds" features St. Augustine storytellers Wayne & Jane Sims, The Storytelling Sims.

As a perfect tie-in to Saint Augustine's 450th Celebration, "Shortages, Submarines, Saboteurs, and War Bonds" is a patriotic and nostalgic program which would be of particular interest to anyone who lived in St. Augustine during WW-2 or who has moved into NE Florida within the last fifty years because it reveals little known aspects of the area's direct involvement in the War.

This program was developed initially in 2010 under sponsorship by Tale Tellers of Saint Augustine in partnership with the St. Augustine Historical Society Research Library and grant support from the Florida Humanities Council.

The Sims have performed this program across Florida, received enthusiastic response, and have taken the show on the road from Orlando, FL, to Asheville, NC, and points in between.

The Tale Tellers of Saint Augustine, a non-profit organization of cultural and educational orientation, was founded in 1993 to promote the art and perpetuate the tradition of storytelling.  Dedicated to community enrichment, the guild promotes the art of storytelling by sponsoring its membership in performance.  Guests and new members are invited to attende meetings, 7:PM, second Mondays, except July.  Information: 904-471-0179.
